A dilemma, just bought a new camera and housing and I want to take it on the dive. Housing is rated to 40m but we are going to do the Rondo and I promised to take Hazel to the bows (50m) the next time we did this wreck. The last time we dived this SEVEN years ago was our very first pleasure dive together and a ‘date’ was set for the bows.

So should I take my camera, don’t want to not have it if we end up staying shallow, don’t want to abandon it at 40m assuming we return the same way. Well I risked it imploding on the assumption it was rated to 40m and there would be some leeway in the spec. I just promised myself not to use it below 40m. It survived as you can probably tell.

Dive Lift yeah!

Rondo

This was going to be a small isles trip, however due to the weather we stuck to the more sheltered Sound of Mull area for the majority of dives. So the next dive (after an excellent brief by Euan) was the Risga Channel.

Chippy Queue

Post dive we headed to the beloved Tobermory where we happened across their Music Festival. So it was a little more crowded than usual (see the queue at the chippy). We were not too impressed by one of the trawler skippers who came in around 23:00 just about ramming our boat after about three attempts to moor up alongside us. Needless to say they were a little worse for wear. We left in the morning to dive Bo Fascadale (one of my favourite sites) and heard over the radio that after the trawler let us out they hit another boat as well as damaged the ferry!

The trip out to Bo, was a bit lumpy and a few of us felt a bit green. However the dive was well worth the trip. However we did decide to head back to Loch Sunart (Auliston point) for calmer waters for the second dive, plus a more peaceful stopover for the night in Loch Aline.

Final day of the trip and it is raining. But at least we had a more peaceful night, and the delights of Loch Aline wall and the wreck of the Thesis awaited us.
